These terms cover your use of the PureApps website, the PureApps Hub, and the apps we distribute. Using any of them means you accept what follows. If you don't, don't use them.

1. What PureApps is

PureApps takes existing open source Mac applications and does the work that stands between their source code and a working app: we compile them for Apple silicon, sign them with our Apple Developer ID, submit them to Apple for notarization, and distribute them through the PureApps Hub.

We did not write most of the software we distribute. Each app names the project it was built from, its authors, and its license, both on this site and in the app itself.

2. Open source, and what that means for you

• The apps are built from public repositories that have been developed and reviewed in the open by their communities, often for years. That history is visible to anyone, and we link to it.
• We keep our changes small on purpose, so our builds stay close to what upstream publishes. When upstream releases new code, we follow it: we merge, rebuild, re-notarize, and the Hub offers you the update.
• Your use of the software itself is governed by that project's own license (MIT, AGPL, and so on), not by these terms. Those licenses grant you rights we cannot take away, including the right to obtain the source and build it yourself.
• What you pay us for is not the software. It is the build, the Apple signing and notarization, keeping it current, and somewhere to go when something breaks.

3. Subscription and payment

A PureApps subscription unlocks every app we publish, including ones added later, for as long as it is active. The current price is shown on the pricing section of this site. Payments are handled by Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the merchant of record and appears on your statement.

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel first. You can cancel at any time and keep access until the period you already paid for runs out.

4. Refunds

If you change your mind within 14 days of a payment, email us and we will refund it in full. No reason needed, no questions asked. After 14 days, payments for that period are not refundable, except where consumer law in your country says otherwise.

5. No warranty

The apps, the Hub, and this site are provided "as is" and "as available", with no warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not promise that any app is free of defects, that it will suit your purpose, that it will keep working after a macOS update, or that it will be available without interruption.

Signing and notarization mean Apple has checked the build for known malware and confirmed it comes from us. They are not a statement that the software is correct, safe for your data, or fit for any particular task.

6. Your data is your responsibility

Back up your data before using these apps, and keep those backups current. Software can lose, corrupt, overwrite or erase data. So can hardware failure, a power cut, or a bug that nobody has found yet.

To the fullest extent the law allows, PureApps is not liable for any loss of or damage to data, files, disks, drives, settings, or hardware arising from your use of the apps or the Hub, whether the cause is in the upstream software, in our build of it, in macOS, or anywhere else. This applies however the loss happens and regardless of whether we were told it was possible.

Some of these apps do things that touch storage devices and system settings directly. Read what an app does before you point it at anything you cannot afford to lose.

7. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, PureApps will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, lost data, or business interruption.

Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability to you for all claims is limited to the amount you actually paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, in which case the exclusions apply only as far as that jurisdiction permits.

8. Acceptable use

Don't use the Hub or the apps to break the law, and don't attempt to resell PureApps subscriptions or share a licence key publicly. You may of course build the underlying open source software yourself, under its own license, for any purpose that license allows.

9. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or end access to a subscription that is being abused, or whose payment has been reversed. If we end your subscription without cause, we refund the unused part of what you paid.

10. Changes

We may update these terms as PureApps changes. The date at the top says when. If a change materially reduces your rights, we will say so on the site rather than change the page quietly.
